F.I.R.M.A. enters the dermatological area with a rich portfolio of products for topical use.
Androgenic alopecia
Androgenic alopecia or 'baldness,' which can affect both men and (less frequently) women, is characterized by miniaturization hair follicle and loss of hair in a defined pattern.
Although there are no direct health consequences, hair loss can have a great psycho-social impact.
Without treatment, androgenic alopecia is a progressive condition. Hair decreases in number at a rate of ~5% per year.
Topical antifungals
Topical antifungals are drugs to be applied directly to the skin in order to treat fungal infections (mycoses). Their mechanism of action is to cause the death or stop the growth of the fungi that caused the infection.
Topical antifungal drugs are available in different formulations including creams, solution, gel, and powder.
Topical antifungals are generally well tolerated and side effects are rare; however, some people may report mild or moderate side effects such as allergic reactions, changes in skin color, hair.
Topical corticosteroids
Topical corticosteroids play a key role in many dermatologic conditions. They are available in various pharmaceutical formulations including creams and skin solutions.
Systemic side effects from topical corticosteroids are rare, mild, and transient; however, their occurrence may be promoted by occlusive therapy and when large areas of skin are treated with high doses and for prolonged periods of time.
Corticosteroids may be combined with topical antibiotics in cases of skin conditions complicated by bacterial overinfection.
